On October 1-3, as a part of Indy Do Day, Rotary students volunteered with Junior Achievement in the Kindergarten through 3rd grade classrooms. High school students taught lessons on various aspects of financial literacy, work readiness, and entrepreneurship. For instance, students in second grade learned about "Our Community" and had the chance to see how money moves through a community, creating jobs and generating tax proceeds that pay for schools, parks, and streets. Our Junior Achievement volunteers were: Margarita Aguilar, Zicri Ayala, Melvin Brown, Hershella Griffin, Mykhail Helm, Jerome Hilliard, Charley Jackson, Alima Jones, Jalina Murillo, Alison Orihuela, Dominic Pagano, Ashley Ring, Sean Scott, Sierra Stewart, and Cailin White-Coleman. The event and training was coordinated by the wonderful Lacia Coons, program manager at Junior Achievement of Central Indiana.
